Module M-01 · OEE

OEE your customers see every shift.

Availability, performance and quality, computed from the signals the machine already keeps. Per machine, per line - live, not on a monthly report.

Why from the machine builder

The plant has OEE software. You have the machine.

OEE tools are sold to factories, one plant at a time. Mavex puts OEE inside the machine offer: your customer opens it in your portal on day one, and you see the OEE of every line you have ever shipped, side by side.

Two machines with the same spec sheet - one of them shows the buyer its OEE from the first shift. That is a reason to choose your machine, not an aftermarket extra.

How it's computed

Availability x Performance x Quality, from three signals the PLC already has

  • Availability Machine state

Running time against planned production time, from the machine's own Running / Stopped / Maintenance state - the one Mavex already shows on every machine card. No manual timesheet.

  • Performance Cycle counter

Real cycle times against the ideal cycle time for that machine model and product.

  • Quality Good / scrap split

Good parts against total parts, from the counters the PLC already keeps.

  • OEE The figure

One number per machine and per line, with the three components behind it, so the loss is never hidden.

No operator input is needed for the figure itself. Where a machine does not expose one of the three signals, the connectivity page explains the options.

What becomes visible

The losses a monthly report never shows

  • Micro-stops and idle time

Thirty-second stops don't make it into a paper report. They make it into the availability figure.

  • Line against line, model against model

The same model at two customers, two OEE figures. As the OEM you see how a model performs across the fleet - real-world input for the next version's spec sheet.

  • An alarm on the figure itself

An OEE or availability floor is a rule like any other metric: when a line drops below it for longer than you allow, the right people are notified and the event is on the machine's record - see Alarms.

Behind the figure

The state timeline of every machine

Under the OEE figure, every machine on the line shows its shift as a timeline - running, stopped, changeover, fault, maintenance - with its own availability beside it.

That is where the availability component comes from: per machine, from the signals the PLC already exposes, so a low line figure leads straight to the machine and the stretch of the shift behind it.

Measured results

What OEE visibility changed in the field

Outcomes measured across Mavex deployments with a plastic extrusion machine manufacturer.

  • +31% OEE improvement for your customers Live and historical data exposed inefficient workflow patterns that were previously hidden to management.
  • −40% Unplanned downtime for your customers Delivered via branded portal - predictive alerts gave machine buyers visibility they never had before.
  • −58% On-site service visits Live figures answered most first-response calls remotely, without dispatching a technician.

Results based on early customer deployments. Individual outcomes vary by industry, machine type, and operational context.

Common questions

Questions we hear about OEE monitoring

Here are the questions we hear most - answered directly, without the sales pitch.

All questions, general and technical

What does the machine need to expose for OEE?
In most cases three signals already in the PLC: a run/stop state, a part counter and a good/scrap split. Mavex reads them through OPC-UA, Modbus or MQTT without changing the PLC program.
Do operators have to enter anything?
No manual input is required for the OEE figure itself - it is computed from machine signals.
Can we compare OEE across our installed base?
Yes. As the OEM you see every machine you have sold, across every customer. Your customers only see their own machines - enforced at the data layer, not just the UI.
How long until we see the first OEE figure?
Most customers go from signed contract to live data in 2–4 weeks, including protocol setup, dashboard customization and white-label branding.
